STEP 2:  Flossing

Flossing should be done at least once a day.  It is the best way to clean in between teeth and help prevent the initiation or progression of periodontal disease.   Here are some tips on how to floss effectively:

  1. Use a piece of floss about 14 inches in length and wrap each end around your index fingers a few times to create a length of about 2-3 inches between your hands (As Seen Above)
  2. Use your thumbs for dexterity and guidance as you gently slide the floss in between the teeth
  3. Wrap the floss around a tooth in the shade of a "C" and gently slide the floss under the gum line.  Gently move the floss up and down. Wrap the floss in the opposite direction and repeat for all teeth.
